Hi, we're Chaptech.

Chaptech is a small UK-registered studio building thoughtful software for founders and teams. We take on a handful of clients at a time, alongside a growing portfolio of our own SaaS products.

The studio is run by Liam Chapman — a senior engineer with a background spanning development, digital media and technology, across both advertising and financial services. We care a lot about how things look and feel, so we work well with designers — and when there isn't one, we're comfortable providing light art direction to keep things on the rails.

Our focus is exceptional user experience: accessibility, seamless motion, and delightful interactions. Our primary stack is TypeScript and React, but we treat tools pragmatically. We pick the right one for the job — not the one we're already bored of.

How we work

• Boring stack, interesting products. TypeScript, React, Node, Astro, Postgres, styled-components. We reach for the simplest thing that works — we're the ones maintaining it at midnight.
• Design-friendly engineering. Give us a design and we'll build it faithfully. If you haven't got one yet, we can provide light art direction and sensible defaults — but for anything ambitious we'd rather bring a designer in than pretend to be one.
• Accessibility and performance from day one. Not a phase-two bolt-on. If it's slow or inaccessible, it's broken.
• One direction of dependency. The design system and patterns we build for Chaptech's own products are the same ones we bring into client work. If it doesn't survive contact with our own portfolio, it doesn't survive contact with yours.
• Written summaries, not status meetings. You get a short written update at each milestone. The codebase is the documentation; the summaries are the translation layer.
• Small by design. One major client engagement at a time, plus a small number of advisory retainers alongside. You'll always know who is doing the work on your project, because it's the same person you spoke to in the first meeting.

Where we're based

The studio is based in Esher, Surrey — just outside London — and we're remote-first. We work primarily across UK and European time zones, with US overlap when the project justifies it, and we're happy to travel into London or further afield for a kickoff.

Not for us

Chaptech isn't the right fit for enterprise sales cycles, agencies looking for white-label delivery muscle, or anyone who needs a team of ten by next Monday. If that's you, we probably know who is.
